Welcome to Project SEGA!
SEGA - Shaping STEAM education for young children through
gaming, is an innovative project about STEAM Education, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme.
Throughout 2022 to 2025, a group of Higher Education Institutions, Schools and Bussinesses from Poland, Greece, Portugal and Netherlands, are developing a methodology to assist educators and teachers engaging young children in STEAM activites and developing 21st century skills. This methodology is based on a Toolkit and a Gamebook for Early Childhood Educators and Teachers about STEAM in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)
The SEGA project – Shaping STEAM Education for Young Children through Gaming — is an international initiative dedicated to transforming early childhood education. We believe that introducing STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) from the earliest years (ages 4–8) nurtures children’s natural curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills, while also reducing gender stereotypes and opening equal opportunities for future learning. Through playful and hands-on activities, children not only discover how science and technology connect with their everyday lives, but also develop teamwork, critical thinking, and environmental awareness.
At the same time, SEGA focuses strongly on supporting and empowering educators. Many teachers feel underprepared to teach STEAM subjects at this level, and the project addresses this gap by providing high-quality resources and training. The SEGA digital toolkit, gamified storybook, and online self-paced training courses give teachers both theoretical background and practical lesson plans, making it easier to integrate STEAM into daily practice. By strengthening educators’ confidence and competences, SEGA promotes innovation in classrooms, enhances teaching quality, and ensures that children benefit from engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
SEGA project is shaping a new vision of early childhood education – one that equips both children and teachers with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing, technology-driven world
